Money & Labor Exchange
We are in the early stages of our development - we have a vast amount of work to do. . .no end in sight really! We need people with skills in many areas and all help is greatly appreciated. However, we do not have unlimited funds, so, in the near term we can offer:
6 day work week. Labor for:
- W.W.O.O.F.'ers - an exchange of room and board for 4 hours labor/day.
- longer term wwoofers and Abeo visitors - an exchange of room for 3 hours labor/day and a contribution of $25 per week for food.
- provisional and full members (see membership, 3 hours labor/day in Eco-farm activites and 3 hours a day Abeo activities. 6 hours total, but keep in mind that much of this labor you do in your day to day life anyway, and as we are working together we achieve so much more! In reality we'll probably be doing much more work than this as we gain the full benefit of that work - building our dreams and having a great time while we are doing it! -Of course it's not always all roses ;-)
The Eco-farm will be generating income for things like insurance, any future projects and pocket money for members, work would include a wide variety of tasks.
Abeo activities on the other hand would include work concerning Abeo, like cleaning, child minding, gardening, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: currently our businesses and gardens are not established, so you will need to help with costs to cover the balance of food and other personal necessities.
If you are seeking membership, your labor is also helping to develop resources that, should you decide to become a member, you will gain benefit from as they are developed. If you have any questions about what work/labor there is available, please email and ask! abeo@earthsociety.org
It's a pretty easy life actually - working together, pooling resources, and otherwise living co-operatively gives a lot of benefit - the sum is much greater that its parts!
We are very open to pensioners and retiree's. Expected labor is flexible (proportionate to abilty) - we will negotiate with you to accommadate.

The Future
We are working with the Permaculture Association of Tasmania to create a LETS community credit system. If you don't know about LETS systems, have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LETS.
Once established we will be able to utilize the skills and labor of the wider tasmanian community economy.
